Dr. Samuel G. Dellenbaugh is a board-certified Orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of injuries and deformities of the foot and ankle. He performs all types of foot and ankle procedures including total ankle replacement, minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures, ligament and tendon reconstructions, and all types of bunion and toe procedures.
In January 2017 he was awarded the “Founders’ Award” from the Northeast Health Foundation for his work at Albany Memorial Hospital. Dr. Dellenbaugh currently serves on the Executive Committee of OrthoNY.
Dr. Dellenbaugh was raised in New Jersey, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Princeton University in 1996. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. He attended the US Army Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and the US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia before joining the First Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany in 1997. While on active duty, he was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of Operation Joint Guard/Joint Forge to support the Dayton Peace Accords. He left active military service in 2000 and returned to the United States.
Dr. Dellenbaugh earned his medical degree in 2007 from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. In 2012 he completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center. Following residency he completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey Pennsylvania.
In 2017 Dr. Dellenbaugh was honored with the “Founders’ Award” from the Northeast Health foundation for his work at Albany Memorial Hospital.
He is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Dellenbaugh is the only orthopaedic surgeon in the Capital District who performs Lapiplasty Three Dimensional Bunion Correction Surgery. This is the first and only procedure specifically developed to correct all three dimensions of the bunion deformity at the root of the problem. The entire misaligned bone is precisely repositioned back into a normal three dimensional alignment. Dr. Dellenbaugh is a Center of Excellence in the performance of this procedure and performs this procedure at Everett Surgery Center and at Samaritan Hospital.
