Tournaments bring patients together to celebrate joint replacement success
(ALBANY, NY) – OrthoNY will host two regional “Best Foot Forward” Golf Invitational events in the coming week. The first will be held this Friday, September 23, at the Colonie Town Golf Course in Schenectady. The second is scheduled for next Wednesday, September 28, at Brookhaven Golf Course in Porters Corners. Close to 175 golfers, all practice patients, are registered between the two tournaments.
The unique events are free for invited golfers and celebrate their successful recovery from joint replacement surgery. Festivities kick off with lunch at noon, followed by nine holes of golf, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, and for the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin. Golfers will also have the chance to shoot for a $10,000 hole-in-one.
“We started the Best Foot Forward in the Saratoga Region with just 27 golfers in 2001,” states Regina Colaes, Director of Corporate Compliance & Provider Recruitment. “Not only has it grown with the number of joint replacements we see, it has become a popular event because of the camaraderie. Complete strangers, with seemingly nothing in common other than a joint replacement, have become good friends because of this tournament, and beyond it.”
