Julie Shaw promoted to Chief Executive Officer
(ALBANY, NY) – OrthoNY is pleased to announce that Julie Shaw has been named Chief Executive Officer, filling the vacancy left when former CEO Alan Okun retired last fall.
Shaw has served as Chief Financial Officer of OrthoNY since the practice was formed by the merger of Northeast Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Associates of Saratoga in January 2013. For more than five years prior to that, she managed finances for Northeast Orthopaedics, directing all aspects of the group’s fiscal reporting, from initial budgeting to the presentation and analysis of financial statements.
Before joining the orthopaedic practice, Shaw was the Chief Fiscal Officer/Vice President of Finance for United Community & Family Services in Norwich, Connecticut. In this role, she was responsible for daily operations of the finance, health services administration and IT departments at the $16-million Federally Qualified Health Center.
Shaw has also held accounting positions at People, Inc. in Williamsville, New York, and Lucker, Kennedy & Felmeden in Buffalo. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Siena College and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
“We are excited to have Julie move into the position of CEO,” stated Leonard Goldstock, MD, president of OrthoNY. “She had already assumed many of the leadership responsibilities on an interim basis as we conducted a national search for our new CEO, and her familiarity with our history, our providers and our services makes this an incredibly smooth transition.”
“The physician team truly values her expertise and felt strongly that Julie’s management would ultimately benefit our employees, and most importantly, our patients.”
OrthoNY is a group of 37 physicians, 21 physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and close to 275 others Saving Lifestyles through whole orthopaedic care. The practice has ten locations in the greater Capital/Saratoga Region, including two physical therapy centers, three pain management suites and three orthopaedic urgent care sites.
